Overview:In order to be considered for a Co-op position, the candidate must be a current student enrolled in a bachelors or master’s program and must be able to work approximately 40 hours per week from January-May or from January-June.
About the Job
We are seeking talented and innovative Hardware Engineers to design, qualify, and test hardware destined for our growing cloud optimization platform consisting of over 140,000 servers in 90 countries within over 1,000 networks. Work will involve benchmarking and validating pre-production hardware destined for Akamai’s growing network. You will also help track hardware failures and create reporting systems to track their trends.
Responsibilities
* Testing and benchmarking prototype and pre-production servers
* Collecting and aggregating failure data into reports; researching causes of these failures
* Developing methods to measure power consumption and thermal dissipation of server components
* Working with suppliers to optimize server performance and power consumption

Basic Qualifications
* Currently pursuing a Bachelors in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and returning to the program after completion of the internship
* 1+ years of experience with x86 hardware and related technologies, standards and protocols: Ethernet, TCP/IP, SATA, SAS, PCIe, and USB.
* 1+ years of experience with one or more of the following languages: Python, Perl, C or C++ (on Linux or a Unix based OS)
* Experience with basic lab hardware: oscilloscopes, power meters, and data acquisition systems.
