About the Job
Akamai's System Communications team is looking for a talented User Experience Engineer to join our team. This engineer will be responsible for designing and developing user facing workflows and features within our systems, which are at Akamai's core internet and enable us to efficiently manage and support one of the largest distributed systems in the world. You will be an integral part of our aggressive growth strategy for creating highly inventive technology solutions for our customers, driving more traffic on the Internet in a secure and efficient way.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about understanding complex systems and use cases, designing corresponding workflows and their interfaces for a diverse user base with various levels of technical knowledge and experience. The ideal individual for this position has some experience with Workflow Modeling or Information Architecture, and is creative, self-directed, a team player, and passionate about a great user experience. This person will be leading and involved in user interview/research to understand the underlying UX/UI issues, information architecture, optimize task flow, look and feel, build prototypes, and contribute to usability testing.

About the Team
System Communications is a team of engineers who develop distributed systems that support Akamai's global network. In general, these systems operate behind the scenes to provide the fault-tolerant and highly scalable core of Akamai's configuration and communications systems.

Responsibilities:

* Researching and prioritizing user needs and requirements.
* Designing UE/UX that supports users’ goals and behaviors.
* Communicate research/testing finding, pros and cons of design logic to stakeholders.
* UE/UX consultations.
* Advocate concepts and ideas from users’ perspective among stakeholders.
* Document designs in words, images, and prototypes.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years in UE/UX design.
* Relevant BA/BS degree or higher.
* 3 years' experience in helping advance current UE/UX design best practices.

Desired Qualifications
* Ability to work with stakeholders from different departments with different perspectives and considerations.
* Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; ability to organize and present information on screen and verbally with a team.
* Experience with Workflow Modeling and/or Information Architecture
* Ability to create simple, clear and elegant user experience for complex applications to increase communication efficiency and enhance user experience.
* Attention to detail.
* Demonstrated portfolio of work required.
