About the Job
A product architect at Akamai designs new customer oriented products and features starting with the customer experience with the product and leading to end-to-end design of the product acorss the Akamai platform. The position requires a high degree of creativity plus the ability to work with product managers, software architects and engineering managers to turn customer needs into working products deployed across the Akamai network.
Within the Security BU we specifically create products to help make the Internet safer for Akamai's customers and their end users by creating new protections against evolving application and network layer threats.
About the Team
The Web Security Team is focused on leveraging Akamai's core strengths of its highly distributed cloud based platform that already serves up to 30% of the traffic on the web and the massive amount of HTTP data it has access to as a result to define industry leading web security products that provides rapid visibility and controls for protection against constantly changing attack profiles.
Responsibilities:
You will work with cross-functional teams in Engineering, Product Management, Operations, and Services & Support. Responsibilities include design leadership for solutions that will enhance web security . You will guide development efforts across teams to implement and deliver products on Akamai's global secure network.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Software design and development experience with a focus on end user experience and development of mission critical, highly reliable systems.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science
- System level design experience in a globally distributed platform
- A passion for delivering an outstanding customer experience in a rich technology space
- Strong working konwledge of Internet network and web application security
