About the Job
As a software engineer in InfoSec, you will help build tools that are used both within InfoSec and the rest of the company enabling us to be more effective and better informed. You will work on tools that range from exploring customer configurations to information retrieval systems to process automation. You will work with our tight-knit team of researchers, engineers, program managers and directly with the CSO.
About the Team
Akamai’s InfoSec team is responsible for helping discover, define and meet the security goals of the company. InfoSec strives to have security included at all phases of projects, working with all groups within the company to encourage and nourish security related thinking. Successful members of Infosec demonstrate avid curiosity about the world, a desire to help their co-workers meet their goals and want to make the Internet a safer place.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain tools used by InfoSec, engineering, and the rest of the company to help meet the security goals of the company and our customers.
* Collaborate with the Security Research, Security Compliance, and Incident Response teams to tune and improve the existing tools and develop new tools.
* Be a source of security advice and software best practices for Akamai through methods like formal or informal advice, design reviews and source code reviews.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Operations Research, or related field.
* 3+ years experience constructing, operating, and improving web applications.
* 3+ years experience rapid prototyping small, experimental programs
Desired Qualifications
* Understanding of HTTP, DNS, SSL and BGP
* Experience in at least one of: Python, Perl, Ruby, Go, C, C++
* Experience in at least one of: Haskell, OCaml, F#, ML, Scala, Clojure, Common Lisp, Scheme, Opa, or Erlang
* Experience assessing and improving the security posture of web applications
* Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing to both technical and business audiences
