About the Job
The Application Acceleration and Delivery space is thriving and Akamai is growing with it! We're looking for top-notch engineers to create IP Acceleration software in a fast paced and ambitious development environment. As a Software Quality Engineer on this team you will be responsible for testing and verification of software components and features that power the IP Acceleration platform.
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer in Test with proven distributed systems experience and automation skills to work with the engineering and quality teams to build system-level test automation and execute automated and manual tests. An ideal candidate will have distributed system testing experience, strong analytical abilities, excellent teamwork and communication skills, and the ability to design, implement, maintain and extend effective system test automation solutions.
About the Team
You will be part of a highly skilled software engineering team responsible for the software that powers a scalable, highly distributed fault tolerant network of servers running IP Acceleration applications at the Akamai Edge. The software will interface with various elements of Akamai’s world-class infrastructure such as mapping, customer care systems, and the Akamai Network Operations Command Center. By leveraging our global deployment of networks, Akamai can uniquely solve problems and exceed fundamental limitations of traditional networking.
Responsibilities:
* Work closely with engineering teams to design, develop, implement and improve test methodologies, test plans and highly effective test automation.
* Design full system test to verify functionality of Akamai’s Content Delivery and Security Products.
* Create, deploy and maintain automated system tests to replicate real-world scenarios on a large-scale distributed test network.
* Formulate test plans based on functional requirements, system design and defect analysis.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
* 1+ year of software development in test experience
* 1+ year of experience working with TCP/IP
* 1+ year of experience working with UNIX/Linux systems
* 1+ year of experience working with Shell and/or Perl scripting
Desired Qualifications
* Education: Master's Degree in Computer Science
* Self-motivated team player
* Experience with distributed systems
* Experience with client/server systems
* Experience with Internet security, firewalls, or Linux iptables
* Experience with Python and SQL
* Experience developing and maintaining automated test scripts, libraries, or frameworks
* Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills
