About the Job
Akamai's System Communications team is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join the development team. This engineer will be involved with the design, implementation and maintenance of a set of tools for managing, optimizing and diagnosing problems in a global distributed system.
About the Team
System Communications is a small team of engineers who develop distributed systems that support Akamai's global network. These systems operate behind the scenes to provide the fault-tolerant and highly-scalable core of Akamai's configuration and health monitoring systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop software to efficiently and reliably collect health and performance data from a global system.
- Benchmark and analyze the performance of the current system.
- Develop software to reduce the operational effort of configuring and managing this system.
- Design and maintain support tools.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience programming in C/ C++
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with SQL, Perl, Python, Java and Linux shell scripts
- Familiarity with cross-platform development for Linux and Windows
- Familiarity with the design and implementation of web-based tools
- Experience with the design of large-scale systems
- Good organizational and personal project management skills
