About the Job
Akamai Systems Communications group is looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our Distributed Reporting team. The candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of a global distributed system for retrieving and aggregating performance information from the Akamai network.
About the Team
Systems Communications is a team of engineers who develop and support systems that support Akamai's global network. These systems operate behind the scenes to provide the fault-tolerant and highly-scalable core of Akamai's configuration and health monitoring systems.
Responsibilities:
* Design, develop and maintain software to reliably and efficiently retrieve data from a global system.
* Identify bottlenecks and scaling limits within the current system.
* Develop and support client interfaces to this data.
* Be involved with the design of the next-generation reporting and monitoring system.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience on Linux/ Unix platforms
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience programming C or C++
Desired Qualifications
* Familiarity with SQL, Python and Linux shell scripts
* Familiarity with cross-platform development for Linux and Windows
* Experience with the design of large-scale systems
* Good organizational and personal project management skills
