About the Job
You will work closely with the other members of the Custom Government Engineering and Operations groups to develop the customer control interface into the GCDS platform on the Public Sector networks. This is a full, modern Rails app that sits at the center of the service providing reporting, provisioning, monitoring, and identity management. This job is primarily web development, but will also involve understanding the interaction points between the application and the services on the network.
About the Team
The Custom Government Engineering team works with breadth and depth across Akamai’s technology stack to deliver custom solutions for our Public Sector customers. The team has a strong relationship with our Operations team; working in a collaborative fashion, we strive to build and operate world-class Application Delivery Networks for our customers.
Responsibilities:
* Work with the rest of the GCDS Portal team to improve current functionality and bring new features to the platform in the Ruby on Rails environment
* Help with code reviews and other elements of Rails best practice
* Engage with our partners in the Front End Engineering team to assist in completing our transition over to AngularJS
* Participate in our hybrid model of developer-lead and traditional QA
* Develop operationalized software that integrates into the Akamai suite of monitoring and service management
* Continue to evolve the web server platform to meeting scaling, security, and compliance needs
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related engineering field; OR equivalent recent professional experience
* 2+ years of Ruby on Rails experience
* 2+ years experience in software development or a related IT field
* U.S. Citizenship
* Willing to apply for a U.S. Government security clearance
Desired Qualifications:
* Experience with Postgresql
* Experience with front-end frameworks, specifically AngularJS
* Strong scripting and Linux administration skills
* Git/Gitflow familiarity
* Experience working with traditional software QA and Operations departments.
* Active, in-scope SSBI clearance.
