About the Job
Media Operations Center Specialist in Media are part of the Akamai Professional Services Broadcast Operations Center Team and work directly with Akamai's clients to monitor and troubleshoot Akamai media solutions. You will work with the customers on make sure their media quality is always optimal around advanced Flash, Silverlight and media players and applications leveraging our partners. This will include working with technical project managers on monitoring and alerting integration, all the way through the media delivery and troubleshooting and resolution of issues.

Broadcast Operations Center Team with Akamai's customers to monitor and optimize solutions that maximize return on investment, reduce risk, and optimize their online initiatives. The team employs some of the foremost Internet experts to solve complex infrastructure, content delivery, and video quality challenges, always with a mind to our customer's business strategy. We've implemented solutions for over 5,000 customers in the private and public sectors.
Responsibilities:
* Clearly communicate with customers via telephone, email, and occasional face-to-face contact to ensure that you understand the issue and they understand the resolution.
* Work independently with our customers' technical teams on post-sales technical issues. The investigation of technical issues may involve complex data analysis from Akamai's distributed network and an in-depth examination of the interaction between Akamai and the customer's infrastructure.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams composed of Engineering, Operations, Sales, Professional Services, and Account Management representatives.
* Design and implement solutions to address a given customer issue after gathering & understanding customer requirements.
* Manage custom support of special high-profile network events.
* Maintain expertise in all main Rich Media Ad platform tools (DoubleClick, VAST, EyeWonder, Pointroll, Motif, etc.).
* Maintain expertise in all encoding systems (Inlet, Digital Rapids, FMLE?), DRM and streaming technologies and video formats, FLV, MPEG, h.264, etc.
* Weekend Fri-Sun 7PM-7AM (three 12 hour shifts).
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent experience.
* 2 years experience providing technical solutions & support to enterprise (Business-to-Business [B2B]) customers or supporting large scale distributed systems in a B2B/B2C environment.
* Detailed knowledge of how the Internet works (HTTP, DNS, Streaming, etc.).
* Knowledge of common network protocols (TCP/IP, ICMP) and troubleshooting tools.
Desired Qualifications
* Experience working with other rich media technologies (e.g. Adobe Air, Video codecs) including video and audio streaming.
* Experience with video encoding and streaming formats and protocols.
* Streaming (Flash, HTTP Live Streaming, etc.)
* Familiarity with Automated Call Distribution (ACD) and at least one CRM system such as Siebel, Remedy or Salesforce.com.
