About the Job:
We are seeking a highly motivated, multi-faceted Program Manager who will work with the Akamai Platform organization to help drive the Networks team goals. This individual will work with a cross functional team of internal stakeholders to: improve processes which help drive projects to completion, develop tools to standardize practices, and prioritize projects for the Networks team. The proper individual for this job will possess both traditional project management skills and the ability to work with stakeholders to help define the needs of the business.
About the Team:
The Network & Data Center Strategy team is responsible for managing and maintaining business relationships with network and data center operators around the world. The team works closely with both existing and new operators to identify cost effective business relationships which often go beyond industry standard customer/vendor relationships.
Responsibilities:
* Work with Data Center Strategy and Program Management teams to identify short and long term cost efficiency projects and drive the projects through the entire lifecycle
* Facilitate cross-functional tactical meetings with project teams effectively prioritizing activities based on available resources
* Partner with Capacity Planning, Architecture & Product teams to define requirements to support future growth of the business
* Define and drive metrics for metro project teams
* Maintain data center inventory databases and related systems to ensure that internal stakeholders have a clear understanding of how to best utilize data center resources
* Improve systems that interface with Finance to ensure that cost forecasts are accurate
* Work with global peers to develop best practices for Akamai’s data center platform
* Maintain knowledgebase of data center contract commitments, capacity and options
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's Degree
* Minimum of 10 years of overall experience with 7 years of experience with Program/Project Management or equivalent experience, ideally in a cross-functional technical delivery capacity
*3 years relevant experience working with data centers or related field
Desired Qualifications
* Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to work effectively across a wide range of constituencies in a diverse corporate and client environment
* Proven ability to deliver projects on time while communicating with key senior leaders
* Proficient with business process, operations, and metric definition best practices
* Proficient with Risk and Issue management and resolution
