About the Job
Akamai Technologies is looking for an experienced compliance professional to join its newly established compliance team. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, this role will be responsible for developing, launching and driving the company’s global compliance program. The individual will work closely with internal stakeholders from the legal, finance, internal audit and sales teams and will advise management on compliance-related issues. This position is full-time and based in Cambridge, MA.

About the Team
The compliance group is new at Akamai and the right candidate will need to help drive the definition and development of the function. The compliance group currently has a Compliance Officer in EMEA with a search underway for a Compliance Officer in Asia. The Senior Compliance Director is expected to be the senior most compliance professional fully dedicated to compliance activities at the company. The compliance team sits within Akamai Legal, a highly experienced global team of attorneys and legal professionals dedicated to helping drive Akamai’s next phase of growth. The legal team currently consists of approximately forty-five professionals located in the U.S., Japan, Germany, Poland, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities:

* Develop, oversee and coordinate administration of Akamai‘s global compliance program. This includes the development and implementation of appropriate policies and controls in certain focus areas, including ethics, anti-corruption, trade compliance and data privacy, as well as establishment of monitoring procedures to ensure effectiveness.
* Oversee and coordinate the activities of regional compliance officers and other compliance professionals on the team.
* Serve as the primary liaison with key internal stakeholders throughout the company, particularly in Legal, Finance, Internal Audit and Sales, on all compliance matters.
* Provide regional expertise on compliance program needs in Akamai’s Americas region.
* Be a vocal advocate and champion for Akamai’s culture of adhering to strong ethical standards.
* Assist the Deputy General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer with reports and communications to executive management, the CEO and the Audit Committee of the Board.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
* B.A. or B.S.
* 12+ years of experience in a compliance role, or equivalent experience in a closely related field such as legal, finance or audit.
* Minimum of four years of experience focusing on compliance matters in a global corporation.

Desired Qualifications
* J.D. or M.B.A. preferred.
* Experience managing a leading compliance program for a global corporation, ideally in the Internet or technology industry.
* Experience working with or in a fast-paced, globally disperse environment.
* Familiarity with Internet and technology regulatory and legal frameworks in emerging markets and experience implementing compliance programs in such markets.
* Substantive experience in compliance practice areas common to global technology companies, including ethics, anti-corruption, trade compliance and data privacy.
* Proactive, entrepreneurial approach to recognizing needs, anticipating issues, solving problems and developing solutions.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a globally distributed team.
* Project management experience, with keen attention to detail, excellent time management skills and multitasking/prioritization abilities.
* A goal-oriented leader with the ability to influence and drive change in a fast-based complex global organization.
* First-rate personal and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to be a vocal advocate for compliance related matters across a variety of constituencies.
* Superb written and oral communications skills.
