About the Job
Akamai Infosec believes in using compliance to drive real security improvement. This role is at the heart of that commitment, as it owns both our assessments against information security standards and the operational processes that satisfy them. You will lead a team of compliance and engineering professionals to get ahead of coming changes in the security standards space, comprehend new market requirements driven by evolving compliance needs, guide the product and platform engineering teams to meet them, and explain this comprehensively to assessors. Where necessary, you’ll combine software and human processes to create new controls or new inspection tools.

The heart of this role is in driving an integrated program of compliance work across Akamai’s product and platform engineering teams. The existing compliance team excels at learning existing standards and at measuring the work of our engineering colleagues in their terms. As the director, you’ll be the principal voice in senior management planning conversations about work we need to do to meet our customers’ demand for standards compliance.

About the Team
Akamai's Infosec Team is responsible for safeguarding the security of the business, from corporate information security through protection of the production systems on the Internet. The Governance and Compliance team works closely with product and platform teams throughout the company to help ensure that Akamai systems meet both the safety and compliance needs of our customers and the public. Team roles include Compliance Analyst, Technical Program Manager, Librarian, Researcher, and Architect.

Responsibilities:

- Lead Akamai’s Security Governance and Compliance team. Work through subordinate managers to build and deploy a team of architects, program managers, and more.
- Serve as the primary authority on compliance matters throughout the company, particularly to the product engineering teams.
- Together with the Adversarial Resilience and Safety Engineering teams, advise on the development of new products across the business.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a program management or operational leadership role
- Minimum 5 years of experience in roles that require driving programs across a multi-business enterprise
- Minimum 5 years of experience hiring, managing, and developing high performing teams
- Minimum 5 years of experience with information or technology security, including
- Minimum 5 years of experience with information security standards, including any of PCI, SOC2, ISO 17799, ISO 27002, Sarbanes-Oxley, European Data Privacy, or HIPAA.
Desired Qualifications
- BS in engineering, science, or mathematics
- Familiarity in Internet facing business
- Experience in a business-to-business, enterprise market
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with distant colleagues as well as local staff
- Superb written and oral communications skills
