About the Job
The Akamai Platform Operations organization is looking for a creative, detail-oriented problem-solver to help develop and drive programs to maintain and scale the operational support of Akamai’s distributed network. You will work in a team of other Operations Program Managers to identify areas to improve the robustness and efficiency of department processes, and, drive and/or implement changes in the product lifecycle with a specific focus on operational excellence.
Your cross functional role requires interfacing with a number of external teams and participating in the rollout of products into production. You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of availability, monitoring and alerting, and, operational control are implemented.
About the Team
The Platform Operations Sustainability Team represents the Platform Operations priorities and requirements within cross-functional product core teams that oversee the development of new products, or, new features of existing products.
The team is also responsible for developing, implementing and driving operational excellence programs, and, adoption of industry standards approach to running operations.

* Represent the interests of Platform Operations in product core teams by promoting the inclusion of monitoring and supportability requirements in the product design
* Manage the implementation of operational readiness best practices to ensure optimal software execution performance and reliability in the production environment
* Facilitate communication and collaboration amongst a cross functional community to disseminate product roadmap, and, collect and analyze Platform Operations impact and requirements
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
* 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or
* Relevant experience and a Master’s degree or PhD or
* Equivalent professional experience
* Minimum 2 years in a Program or Project Management role working with cross functional groups, across multiple geographies
* Minimum of 2 years of experience with Operations Engineering (e.g., System Administration, DevOps etc.)
* Minimum 2 years of experience in IT, software engineering or data center operation

* Outgoing; good people skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsGood motivational and communication skills
* Experience working with Internet technologies or protocols such as DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, etc.
* Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks and to prioritize tasks to maximize productivity
* Passion for learning about new technologies
* Familiarity with large scale, fast growing internet facing services
* Knowledge of languages like Perl, Python, SQL, shell scripting, and command line tools
