About the Job
This is an opportunity to work in a large scale, Global Platform Operations department. Working to maintain Akamai’s products and services, you are involved in every facet of Akamai’s network operations and contribute to Akamai’s success while being part of a very important team.
About the Team
The Akamai Network Operations Command Center (NOCC) team is responsible for the availability for Akamai’s deployed network. To achieve this goal the NOCC is responsible for:
* Monitoring Akamai’s deployed network.
* Investigating service interruptions and determine the root cause.
* Resolving service interruptions either within the NOCC or by escalating to other entities inside or outside of Akamai.
* Managing and tracking events through resolution and maintaining a history of network-impacting issues.
* Providing ongoing maintenance and administration for the deployed network.
Responsibilities:
The Platform Operations AMP Engineer responsibilities include:
Develop, enhance and support critical automated NOCC procedures (AMP scripts)
Troubleshoot issues and ensure optimal performance of deployed AMP scripts
Work closely with NOCC and other Platform Operations teams in designing of AMP scripts
Provide guidance and training to NOCC staff assisting with AMP project
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent network operations experience.
2+ year(s) of solid Perl development experience or MS in Computer Science
2+ year(s) of experience with UNIX system administration or equivalent experience
2+ year(s) of experience with database administration/ SQL scripting or equivalent experience
2+ year(s) of experience with project engineering or equivalent experience
Desired Qualifications
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills, and a demonstrated history of high-level achievement in cross-functional organizations.
Working knowledge of TCP/IP in internetworking/WAN data communications.
