About the Job
As a Security Evangelist, you will serve as a credible ambassador for the security of Akamai and translator of this knowledge to technical, business, audit and industry communities. You will engage on security issues throughout the customer lifecycle, providing our customers with insight into Akamai's security practices, technologies, and solutions. You will work independently and with small teams in satisfying individual customer requests, including Executive Briefings, contract discussions, technical design, and product requirements. This includes partnering with a cross-functional set of Akamai teams, including Account Management, Sales, Engineering, Product Development, Finance, Legal, and Customer Care to address issues, develop understandings of customer requirements, and satisfy customer security needs at every opportunity. You will work alongside Marketing and Public Relations to promote awareness of Akamai globally.
About the Team
Akamai's InfoSec Team is responsible for safeguarding the security of the business, from corporate information security through production systems, to customer product security. We engage with every organization at Akamai to support ongoing projects, ensuring security is injected throughout process lifecycles. We design security solutions, investigate security incidents, conduct compliance audits, track, manage, and mitigate vulnerabilities, design security systems, and build trusted relationships with our customers.
Responsibilities:
You will be an Akamai, Internet, and Security technical expert. You will be able to converse with a wide range of audiences, and communicate Akamai's security and value propositions clearly, while capturing evolving customer interests and requirements. To succeed, you will partner cross-functionally to help drive Akamai's security roadmap to the satisfaction of our customers; and be able to communicate security issues at both the C-level and security technologists level. You will present at industry conferences and help build awareness of Akamai within the security community.

- Contract and Proposals Review
- Conference Speaking
- Public Face and Press/Analyst relations
- Original research/analysis/thought-leadership
- Blogging/podcasting
- Participation in Industry Working Groups (ACSC, FIRST, ISACs)
- Internal training development
- Assist Product and Industry Marketing and Programs
- Data Analysis on the platform
- Assist with SotI (State of the Internet report) quarterly
- Support “Road Shows”
- Co-Host Technical Executive Briefings
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- 5 years of more of experience:
- being conversant regarding secure complex distributed systems
- managing a production security program under a compliance regime
- presenting to technical and executive audiences
- 3+ years of experience with creating customer/public documentation
- 3+ years in a customer/public-facing role
Desired Qualifications
- Deep experience with fundamental Internet protocols: TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, HTTP, FTP, DNS
- Hands-on experience in operating web- and cloud-based systems
- Ability to manage fast-paced customer engagement environments
- Must be able to convey a powerful security narrative
- Must possess excellent technical aptitude and a desire to learn constantly
- Must be willing to travel 25-50%
