About the Job
As a Security Engineer in Enterprise Security Services, you will provide technical and business advice on enterprise security issues. This role is a security subject matter expert, who designs, develops, or reviews security solutions tailored toward improving the technical security of information systems at Akamai. You will work directly with Akamai’s IT and Architecture organizations providing security design guidance for new applications and systems, support to security incident management, technical expertise in support of malware and vulnerability management, and conduct security reviews of applications and services that support Akamai's business. You must display an in-depth understanding of new trends and technologies related to IT security and compliance, and will contribute to the company IT security strategy and roadmap.
About the Team
Akamai Enterprise Security Services is responsible for safeguarding the security of the business assets that make Akamai run. We engage with every Akamai organization in support of ongoing initiatives, ensuring security is injected throughout project and process lifecycles. We (a) provide security architecture oversight and assist in the design and development of secure application capabilities and solutions, (b) investigate and provide mitigation strategies for security incidents, (c) conduct application security reviews and forensics analysis, (d) provide operational support to track, manage, and mitigate attack, malware and vulnerability events, and (e) build relationships with customers, industry and academia to enhance our brand.
Responsibilities:
* Build, maintain and mature the security engineering tools platform
* Provide management with reports/metrics on the security engineering tools sets
* Research and stay current on malware, vulnerabilities and advanced threat detection mechanisms as the industry evolves
* Have knowledge in multiple security disciplines (Windows, Unix, Linux, DLP, endpoint controls, databases, wireless security and data networking) to offer global solutions for a complex heterogeneous environment
* Have experience deploying and engineering SIEM tools
* Serve as an active member of the Security Incident Response Team and participate in security incident response efforts
* Document security guidelines, procedures, and policies
* Provide security guidance and consultation to Akamai business units during project reviews, adhoc inquiries and risk assessments
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
* 5+ years of experience with information security principles and practices such as: access control, authentication, authorization, and audit
* 3+ years’ experience with vulnerability management, SIEM and Log Management, proxy servers, DLP, IPS/IDS, VPN, PKI, 2-factor authentication, SAML, cryptography
* 3+ years of experience with network security engineering and/or analysis
* 3+ years of experience identifying software and application compromises and vulnerabilities.
Desired Qualifications
* Proven ability to multi-task with a focus on tracking, results, and reporting
* Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
* Must be self-directed and detail oriented
* Perl, PHP, Python, Regex scripting experience
* Knowledge of computer regulatory framework (such as ISO 27001, PCI DSS, or NIST 800-53)
* Active member of industry security working groups
* CISSP, CISM and/or SANS certification a plus
