About the Job
Akamai is seeking a Software Engineer to help design and develop its next generation recursive DNS products and services. The day-to-day work of the team encompasses the full engineering cycle: problem definition, analysis, algorithm design, implementation, testing, and code review. Akamai’s systems process carrier-scale to planetary-scale transaction rates and thus present a significant challenge to engineers. This is what makes the job unique, exciting and fun.
About the Team
The Recursive team focuses on Akamai’s AnswerX product which processes recursive DNS queries for customers all over the world. Our goal is to help you develop world-class high-scale DNS technology. Your work will be used by millions of people trillions of times a month. The recursive team at Akamai is a relatively new, highly desired and exciting place to work. Qualifications:
Basic:
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
* 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or its equivalent or
* 3 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree in Computer Science or
* Relevant experience and a PhD
* Minimum of 5 years professional programming experience or equivalent
* Minimum of 2 years experience in C++
* Minimum of 2 years experience with DNS, threading and data structures
Desired:
*Strong cross functional experience across areas such as sales, engineering, Q/A, support, architecture etc..
* Knowledge of DNS, threading, and data structures
* Knowledge of perl and make
* Familiarity with Linux/Unix system operating system skills
* Strong design skills and an ability to tackle abstract, ill-defined problems.
* Ability to work in a small-team environment.
* A strong work ethic and positive attitude.
